On November 3rd, Wesclin’s Lifesaver’s club left for its annual retreat in Du Bois,Illinois. Nineteen wesclin students attended this retreat in order to train them on becoming better listeners and peer advisors. The training included leadership aspects through youth leadership, speech skills, and how to find someone who is struggling in their daily life. The retreat trains students to become good listeners and what to do when one of their peers comes to them for help. Students stayed in cabins all weekend, learning their new skills and returned to Wesclin on Sunday, November 6th with their newfound skills. Junior member, Maddie Campbell said, “It was an amazing experience for all and [it] changed many lives. This activity allows students not just to change the lives of people around them but also to help them guide themselves through life.”
