Wesclin Jr. High Honors Coach Wright
On Monday January 13th, the Wesclin Junior High girls’ basketball team and their coach, Mr. Wright, participated in their last home game. After 35 years, Mr. Wright decided that he will no longer be coaching junior high girls’ basketball. It takes a lot of dedication and patience to be a coach for 35 years. Mrs. Musso, WJHS athletic director, said, “Mr. Wright is an inspiration to all coaches. Dedicating 35 years to inspiring and teaching athletes is quite an accomplishment. As a fellow coach I thank him for his years of dedication and the inspiration to keep at it.” Mr. Wright touched a lot of people throughout the years of coaching. Mr. Freeze, junior high principal, called all of Mr. Wrights’ former players and asked them to attend his special night. Out of all the girls that played for Mr. Wright, thirteen of them came to celebrate with him. Former player, Dorri Stempel said, “For being so small Mr. Wright was powerful when it came time to yell at us. He was a coach that told you what you didn’t want to hear or what you didn’t want to do, so you could be a better player.” Mr. Wright was awarded a plaque for all the years of dedication and hard work.
